Recent Races

Team members are drawing to the close of the Cross-Country Season with Nationals taking place on 16th March and the final fixture hosted by GMP taking place on 30th March 2022, let’s hope some bling comes our way!!

Snowdonia 7’s Mountain Race

This was originally a Police Cadet race and has taken place annually since 1974. The event is PSUK affiliated and organised by North Wales Police, further information can be found at: or Snowdonia Seven Facebook page

The Snowdonia Seven is undoubtedly the most enjoyable (and challenging) event in the police sporting calendar.

Snowdonia Seven’s still embodies the original ethos of developing ‘Fitness, Teamwork and Endurance’.  To complete the challenge, teams (of 4) must travel 22 miles, over 7 peaks (with a total ascent of almost 8000’) – in under 10 hours, carrying safety kit as detailed in the rules.

The confirmed date for the 2022 event is Saturday 3rd of July and we are hoping to get a few teams out at this event again this year.

Northern Police Cross Country League

The season runs from Sept to March with fortnightly fixtures. Details can be found via: or the Northern Police Cross Country League Facebook page

The 2022 PSUK Cross-Country Championships are being hosted by Humberside Constabulary at Normanby Hall, Scunthorpe on Wednesday 16th March 2022

The league started in the late 1970's and for over 40 years has attracted runners from most of the police forces across the North of England.

The league now stages 12 fixtures and attracts between 40 and 80 runners at each event.

In recent years the league has gone from strength to strength, despite the pressures of securing time-off from police duties.

The GMP Athletics Section takes part in many events up and down the country.
