National Competition - 10 mile road race.

1) we took a team of ten runners down to last week's PSUK 10 mile road race and had some success, Rick Lloyd was 2nd Vet 40, Kate Kelly 6th female overall and the Vets Team came 3rd, all those that ran had an enjoyable time, oh, apart from Stew Jones whose Achilles went on lap one. Thanks to all those that made the trip.

2) you may or may not be aware that GMP are staging next years Police Fell race, Dave Wood and Andy Wright are leading on the planning and have arranged the below recce, please join them if interested;

"We have planned a recce run of the Turnslack Fell route which we are proposing to use for the PSUK event next year. We are meeting at midday on Monday , 3rd October , 2011 , at Littleborough Cricket Club , Calderbrook Road , Littleborough. This is so anyone who so desires can have a look at the facilities there , as this is where we plan to base the event , and also have a taste of the terrain . It is intended to use the majority of the Turnslack event route , but with the addition of an interesting leg out and back ~ principly to facilitate the use of the Cricket Club. In total , the route will be approx 8 miles , so on 3rd October we could well be out for between 2 ~3 hours , any takers should come prepared !
As we will require plenty of help with the staging of the PSUK National Fell Race next year , I thought it might be worthwhile throwing out an open invite for Monday 3rd October to anyone who might wish either to be involved next year , or simply enjoy a 'bracing ' day on the Pennines !
For good measure , we may retire to the local hostalry to de~brief the recce , so please feel free to join us ! "
